Research Assistant (Post-Doc, m/f/d) in the area of "Green Technologies in Landscape Architecture"

The Institute of Landscape Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture and Landscape Sciences invites applications for the position of a Research Assistant (Post-Doc, m/f/d) in the area of "Green Technologies in Landscape Architecture" (Salary Scale 13 TV-L, 100 %) to be appointed at the earliest possible date. The position is offered with a scope of 100 % and is remunerated according to Salary Scale "E13 TV-L" (collective agreement for the public service of the Länder). The position is limited to 3 years with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities and duties

To support the research activities of the recently established professorship for "Green Technologies in Landscape Architecture" we are looking for a person who conducts high level research in the field of green infrastructure development. Based on the technical foundations of landscape architecture, with a focus on green technologies and nature based solutions, the professorship team's research area spans to large-scale concepts of urban climate adaptation.

The person we are looking for should contribute their research interests to the described research area. Research could be conducted on the spatial- conceptual level, e.g. on the methodical approach to systematic green infrastructure planning, but the focus could just as well be an analysis of existing green infrastructure cases or experimental field work concerning innovations in green technologies.

In addition to a broad knowledge base in the subject area presented above, the applicant should appreciate teamwork and be willing to jointly develop ideas for new research projects and to support funding acquisition activities. Continuing and developing international research cooperation on issues of green infrastructure development and local rainwater management is amongst the main goals for the team.

We wish for the new person to take an active role in the supervision of doctoral candidates, graduates and students and to help implement innovative teaching formats at the interface between research and practice.

Employment conditions

Prerequisite for the employment is a completed academic university degree (diploma/master) in landscape architecture or a similar discipline. A relevant doctorate or comparable academic achievements in the subject area presented are expected. Experience in scientific publication practice should be proven through publication in international journals (experience in the peer-review process).

Furthermore, the motivation to work in a team, but also an independent, precise and result-oriented way of working as well as an innovative and analytical way of thinking are expected. An open and clear manner of communication, as well as very good communication skills in English, both written and oral, are required. Experienced handling of relevant software (MS Office, graphics software, if necessary GIS) is expected.
