　　美東時間5月1日，2018年度美國科學院院士增選結果揭曉，84名新科院士和21名外籍院士榜上有名，其中包括6名著名旅美華人學者，涵括物理、生物與固體力學等領域，分別畢業于北大、西交大、復旦、中科大、臺灣中興大學，和哈佛。

　　美國科學院由林肯總統1863年簽署法案建立，以表彰當選院士在科學研究領域的卓越貢獻，并為美國聯邦政府提供科學政策建言。今年增選后，其院士總人數達到2382名。據統計，迄今為止，一共有約90名華人學者當選美國科學院院士。

　　在早先公布的2018年美國工程院院士增選中，也有六位旅美華人學者當選，包括，佐治亞理工學院史建軍，加州理工學院汪立宏，麻省理工學院邵陽，康寧公司李明軍，卡拉制藥公司Chen Hongming，和Sandia國家實驗室科Jacqueline H。 Chen。另有四位中國學者當選為美國工程院外籍院士，包括清華大學郝吉明，中科院金屬所盧柯，浙江大學楊衛，和臺灣地球科學家李羅權。
