Continuous-variable quantum key distribution (QKD) is a well established technology to distribute secret keys between two parties for data encryption. Within this position you will experimentally investigate advanced schemes making use of the semi-device-independent paradigm such as measurement-device- independence and one-sided-device independence. You will use coherent and squeezed states for the demonstrations and work together with partners from the EU Quantum Technology Flagship projects Uniqorn and CiViQ.

The position will be hosted by the Section of Quantum Physics and Information Technology (QPIT) at the Department of Physics of the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).

QPIT conducts widely recognized research within a range of diverse topics such as continuous-variable quantum information processing, quantum enhanced sensing, and engineering of solid state quantum systems. We are part of the EU Flagship project Continuous Variable Quantum Communication (CiViQ), the Photonic Integration project UNIQORN and the EU H2020 Quantum Key Distribution Testbed project OPENQKD.

Responsibilities and tasks We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who will be in charge of experimental demonstrations of advanced continuous-variable quantum key distribution. You will

experimentally demonstrate measurement-device-independent CV QKD over long distances

experimentally work on a one-sided device independent QKD protocol based on coherent states

demonstrate CV QKD with squeezed light from a chip integrated source across DTU’s campus together with experts on squeezed light

Qualifications Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent.

You have a passion for photonics and continuous variables and you are intrigued by their application in quantum key distribution. You enjoy finding clever solutions to difficult problems and further you have the following qualifications:

Experience with continuous variables: quantum optics or telecommunication

Experience with fiber optics

Experience with python or matlab programming

Experience with squeezed light is not required.

Salary and terms of employment The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 2 years.
