Your responsibilities as an RA include assisting with fMRI/eyetracking and EEG scanning during tasks involving two participants at the same time. You will also administer standardised questionnaires and maintain a detailed measurement logbook. In addition, you will recruit neurotypical and autistic participants and conduct screening interviews over the telephone.

We ask

We are looking for a person who can speak Dutch, is highly motivated, resilient, resourceful, and holds at least a Bachelor's degree. You will be working closely with patient groups that require a patient and empathetic approach. Experience with fMRI and ASD patient groups is preferred. We expect you to be highly organised and able to improvise, as each dual scanning session involves the close cooperation of four researchers. As the scanning times depend on the scanner's availability, working hours will be flexible.

The mission of the Donders Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging (DCCN) is to conduct cutting-edge fundamental research in cognitive neuroscience. Much of the rapid progress in this field is being driven by the development of complex neuroimaging techniques for measuring activity in the human brain - an area in which the Centre plays a leading role. The research themes cover central cognitive functions, such as perception, action, control, emotion, decision- making, attention, memory, language, learning and plasticity. The Centre also aims to establish how the different brain areas coordinate their activity with very high temporal precision to enable human and animal cognition. Our internationally renowned centre currently hosts more than 100 PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers from more than 25 countries, offering a stimulating and multidisciplinary research environment. The Centre is equipped with four MRI scanners (7T, 3x 3T), a 275-channel MEG system, an EEG-TMS laboratory, several (MR-compatible) EEG systems, and high-performance computational facilities.

You will be part of a team led by Dr Arjen Stolk and Dr Jana Basnakova studying communication in autism. This Synergy group within the Language in Interaction Consortium conducts unique dual fMRI and EEG studies where neurotypical and autistic participants interact on various communicative tasks. The project aims to understand how the brains of neurotypical and autistic individuals deal with situations which are fundamentally based on contextual information.

We offer

  Employment: 0.5 FTE.

  A minimum gross monthly salary of € 1,914 and a maximum gross monthly salary of € 2,723 based on a 38-hour working week (salary scale 5).

  The exact salary depends on the candidate's qualifications and amount of relevant professional experience.

  In addition to the salary: an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.

  Duration of the contract: 16 January 2021 - 16 July 2022 (18 months).
